8 coaches of goods train derail on Delhi-Amritsar route, services hit

As many as 8 coaches of a goods train derailed in Haryana today. The derailment took place at the Tarawari station in Karnal district. The train was headed to Amritsar from Delhi.

"Around 4:40 a.m. today, we received the information that a goods train was derailed at the Tarawari station in Karnal. 8 coaches have been derailed. Two wheels have come off", said Dinesh, Inspector, Karnal police.

He further added that the trains on the Delhi-Ambala railway line have been stopped. "The tracks are also being cleared. It will take a while to do so. However, we are working on it. The trains on the Delhi-Ambala railway line have been stopped. No casualties have been reported", he added.

Earlier in June, two coaches of a coal-loaded goods train derailed near Faridabad railway station in Haryana. However, no injuries were reported in that incident as well.
